Lesson Plan for Wednesday, May 6th
Greetings!! I have a couple of things to fill you in on today! Mrs. Jones and I have mailed out an envelope containing 2 items for the children. The first item in the envelope is a certificate for our beloved kindergarteners!!!!! Congratulations friends!! You are flying away to first grade!! Parents, please snap a picture of your son/daughter holding up his/her certificate and email the picture to Mrs. Pendleton, “[email protected],” as soon as you can. She is going to put the photos together and make a video for us to view next week!!! Thank you, Mrs. Pendleton!
The second paper in the packet is for your kinder to complete for his/her mother or grandmother. The children are supposed to draw and color a picture of mother/grandmother inside the frame. They are to draw their mother in a place that she loves, and then finish the sentences below the picture box. (Maybe dad or another adult could help with this, so there can be at least an element of surprise!!!!) Children, finish these pictures by Sunday so that you will be ready on Mother’s Day!!
We will have our Zoom meeting on Thursday, at 11:30. The children will need a container of change, (1 quarter, 5 dimes, 6 nickels and 10 pennies are suggested) because we are going on a virtual shopping trip!!!! Then everyone will have a chance to show or share something. Hope to see you then!!
Religion: Pray the “Hail Mary,” and read pages 11 and 12 to finish our “Mary” pages. Take off the last 2 pages of our religion packet and make them into a prayer book. Listen to your child pray the prayers we have learned in school this year. The only one we have not practiced is the, “Grace After Meals.”
Reading: Discuss our new memory word, “You,” and complete page 4. Make sure that your kinder reads the sentence aloud for you. On page 5, just have your child read and circle the words that describe the picture. Now, we are going to read the story, “The Big Box Fix Up,” but first let’s practice reading some words from the story: you, said, like, put, box, boxes, sandbox, added, blanket, windmill. Read the story on pages 6-13. (You can circle the correct answers to the riddles.) Remember that you can read the story in 2 or more sessions if necessary.
Writing: Letter J: Something that brings me joy is _____________ because _____________. (You can have until Sunday to finish this story if need be.)
Math: The next page in our packet is, “Make 25 cents.” Take a cup of coins and use them to help you figure out 5 different ways to make 25 cents. Draw the coins on each of the 5 lines.
Just for fun: 1. Make some, “Tape shapes,” on the floor with painter’s tape. 2. Play hide and seek, stuffie style. Have someone hide one of your stuffies, while you count to 50! Ready or not, here you come!! 3. Make a thank you poster for community helpers like hospital workers, grocery store workers, the postman, etc. Display it in your window. 4. Learn about a new animal this week!!
