Lesson plan for Monday, April 27th
Good morning! The countdown to summer has begun! We have 12 days left of online school!! We are going to work hard and have fun this week!! As everyone has been doing such a great job completing and submitting their assignments, Mrs. Pendleton is giving you one homework pass each week for the next 3 weeks! This week you may use that pass for any assignment of your choice. How about that??
Our first video this morning is from our scholastic news magazine. Remember that you can access it by typing in, “Scholastic.com/lfo.” Enter the password, “winzoo9,” and you will be able to see everything that the issue, “A Caterpillar Grows Up,” has to offer. (Completing the PDF I sent is optional.)
Reading: We are going to finish reading our play today! Let’s begin by reading over some vocabulary words that will be in Act 3: like, to, for, huff, puff, kick, quick, daffodil, dragon. Now have fun reading Act 3, “Daffodil the Dragon!” If you want to go back and read the whole play together, please do so. Finally, have your child read the sentences on page 21 and circle the correct answers. (I always tell the children to go back and refer to the pages in the story if they need to.) Tomorrow we will begin letter J!!!!
Writing: We are writing with letter “F” today. Have your son/daughter write and illustrate a story using this prompt, “One quality I look for in a friend is _______ because_______________.”

Math: Have your listen and participate in this telling time video.
Next, explain to your student how to tell time to the HALF hour. I usually show them how the minute hand moves around the clock, (You can explain that it takes 5 minutes for the minute hand to move from number to number.) We HAVE practiced counting by 5’s this year. I also explain that by the time the minute hand has moved halfway around the clock, the hour hand has moved halfway in between the 2 numbers.) Now, have your child fill in the missing times on the front side of our next math page. We will save “Flo’s Flowers” on the back of this page until tomorrow.
Just for fun: 1. Read a recipe and make something yummy to eat. 2. Build a tower out of playing cards. 3. Create a post office at your house. Use boxes to make your family members mailboxes and then deliver letters and pictures to them that you have written. 4. Build a structure with all the cardboard in the recycling bin.
