Lesson Plan for Tuesday, April 28th
Religion: Let’s begin by praying the, “Our Father,” today. The next 2 pages in our packet have to do with learning how to make “The Sign of the Cross” correctly. We have already worked on this quite a bit at school, so just check your son/daughter’s “Sign of the Cross” and give correction as needed. We are going to move on to Chapter 23, page 201, “We Pray as Jesus Did.” Read aloud the “We Gather” statement and help your child understand that sometimes Jesus prayed alone and sometimes he prayed with other people. Discuss the questions at the bottom of the page. Now, turn over to page 202 and read aloud the “We Believe” statement. Explain that prayer is the way we talk to and listen to God. Invite your son/daughter to talk about his/her favorite times and places to pray. Read the activity directions aloud and have your student draw a picture of himself/herself at prayer.
Reading: Listen to the letter J song on “Superkids Online Fun.” It is Ettabetta’s turn to be the Supernoodle, and you know how she likes to play puzzles and games. Follow the directions at the bottom of pages 22, 23 and 24 in the Superkid book, and complete those pages.
Math: We are going to finish up our exploration of time today. Have your student write the following times on the flower clocks, “Flo’s Flowers.” Your son/daughter will write the time that you dictate at the top of each box, and then draw the hour and minute hands on the clock below. 1. 7:30, 2. 10:00, 3. 12:00, 4. 1:30, 5.3:30, 6. 6:00, 7. 8:30, 8. 9:00.
Writing: The “ABC’S of Me,” letter G: “I think _____________ is really gross because _________________________________. (We can have 2 days to complete this if needed.)
Just for fun: 1. Call or facetime a grandparent or friend and read them a story. 2. Watch or read “The Best Nest” by P.D. Eastman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXr67lj1bmc Talk about what would make a good nest for a bird. Gather materials and make your nest. You can use items from nature, your recycling bin or both. Test your nest’s strength by putting in a hard boiled egg, wooden egg or plastic egg. 3. Make a tic-tac-toe board and write a Superkid “J” word in each box. (The J word list is on the back of the K-Qu wordlist.) Now, find someone to play with. If you read the word correctly, put a marker on top of it. 3 in a row will win!!!! 4. Disguise a stuffed animal. Use construction paper, scissors and tape to turn a teddy bear into a bird, a doll into a rabbit, etc.
