Kindergarten Greetings!
Today is “Wacky Wednesday," so do something wacky today! Gizmo and Fluffy are wearing their funniest hats for you! I am so proud and impressed with how hard you all have been working, and I appreciate the efforts of your families!!!!! As we like to say, "Team work makes the dream work!"
If you need more: Go on a scavenger hunt around your house. Use tally marks to record how many doors, windows, beds, chairs and spoons you can find.
Just for fun: Write your numbers from 1 to 100 on the sidewalk. Circle all the even numbers and underline all the odd numbers. Listen to someone else read on Storytime Online.com
Enjoy the nice weather today!

- Religion: Start with a prayer of your choice, or the following: “Jesus, help us learn about you today. Help us to be good listeners. Amen.” Instruct your child to think about a time when they were hungry and had to wait to eat. How were they feeling while waiting? In this lesson we will learn about a time when Jesus fed a lot of hungry people. Make the booklet, and then have your child go get his/her lunch box. Ask him/her: “Do you think that what fits in this lunch box would be enough to feed everyone in this group?” Read the story of the “Loaves and Fishes.” Ask your child to imagine what the hungry people must have felt when Jesus fed them. Say: It’s no wonder that the people thanked Jesus! Do you remember to thank your mom or dad after a meal? Today, remember to do that! Just for fun: Act out the story of the loaves of fishes at lunch or dinner today.
- Reading: If you have not yet set up the “Superkids” online portal, you will need to do that today. Email me if you need me to resend the set-up letter. Open up Superkids online fun, and listen to the letter, Vv song. It will be under the “Watch” icon. All the songs are listed there. The “Vv” song is always the favorite of the kinders because it is so dramatic and sad. (Spoiler alert… Golly dog gets hurt, but he WILL be OK.) After listening to the song, have your child turn to page 12 in the workbook and have him/her read what the kids are saying on this page. Then have your son/daughter circle all the pictures whose names begin with the letter Vv. Now go to page 12 and have your student trace and write the letter V. Hint: We always begin our letters at the black dot at the TOP. Have your child read the sentence at the bottom of the page, trace it and write it. Sometime this week: Have your child make up a V sharing and give YOU 3 clues . Can you guess it?? (If your son/daughter can’t find something that starts with the letter V, he/she can draw something.) Find some time for reading today. The online Fun app has many stories that beginning readers can read and reread.
- Math: Hold up 2 different sized containers. Explain that some hold more and some hold less. Tell your student that CAPACITY is a word we use to tell how much an object can hold. Find a cup measure and have your kinder fill each container with cereal, (Or something) and count the cups it takes to fill each one. Ask your child which container holds more? (Large one) Which holds less? (Small one.) On page 521, have your student use something like same sized Legos, counters, paper squares, etc., to cover and fill each sandbox. Follow the directions at the bottom of page 521. Follow the directions and have your child complete pages 522, 523, 524. Homework is optional. Extra Activity if you want to: Have your child find 5 empty containers and place them in order from the smallest one to the largest one. Have him/her guess how many scoops of dried beans (or whatever) it will take to fill each container. Then have him/her fill each one to check their guesses.
If you need more: Go on a scavenger hunt around your house. Use tally marks to record how many doors, windows, beds, chairs and spoons you can find.
