The Last Lesson
Well, we made it! I don’t think that any of us wanted the year to end in this way……but some things are just out of our hands! I am just sitting here thinking about our time of distance learning. I’m not sure I even know what I think at this point. I always feel a little melancholy at the end of the school year anyway, and something like this has never happened to us before. I know that we have all tried to cope and change and continue to do the best that we can. These things I know to be true:
We will have our last Zoom meeting this morning at 11:00. Hope you can make it! If you can’t we understand! I will not be posting any more lesson plans, but I will continue to email you some information over the next week or so. On Friday, Mrs. Pendleton will be sending out our “Flying away to First grade” video. It will be posted on the IC School homepage and on Facebook at around 10:00 a.m. Report cards will also be sent home sometime next week. We will not be assessing our fourth quarter skills, as we could not meet with each child to do that, so there will be some blanks on the card. Don’t worry about that, and don’t forget to come to school next week to pick up your student’s supplies and memory book. (See Mrs. Pendleton’s email for your pickup time and place.) That is probably enough info for now! I will be in touch, and may God’s love be with you, always!
Religion: Give your home teacher or teachers giant hugs.
Reading: Complete page 32 and then fill out your certificate on page 33. You are a SUPERKID!!!!!!!! (But we already knew that.)
Writing: Finish your L story if need be. (First grade hint: The first grade teachers expect you to do your neatest writing, and form your letters correctly. Practice up this summer if you need to!)
Math: Say thank you to every person who helped you learn at home.
Just for fun: Go outside and yell at the top of your lungs, “I AM A FIRST GRADER!!!!!!!” Keep reading and reading and reading this summer.

- Kinders, I have missed you SO much. I took for granted that your shining faces would always come through that door every morning, and now to see that sight would bring me the greatest joy! But thinking of you at home, safe with your families gives me all the comfort I need!!! Your parents have always been your first and best teachers! Make sure to thank them and hug them tight to show how much you love and appreciate them!
- Parents, you have done an outstanding job. Not just during our distance learning, but from day one of kindergarten. I was chatting with Mrs. Pendleton and she remarked what a gracious and positive group you are. You have been teaching your children invaluable life lessons in the past few weeks, and really, from the day they were born. “There are 2 ways to live your life. One is though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” – Albert Einstein
