Kindergarten Greetings!
Happy TuesdayTunes Day! Check out the tune I’m sending you! Are you ready for day 2?????? I hope so, now let’s see what we are doing today!
If your child needs more: Have your child think of some other attributes besides length, height and weight that can be used to describe objects. (Examples might be color, texture, sound, function, and temperature. Have him/her choose various home objects and describe each one using as many attributes that apply.
Just for fun: Play freeze tag. Dye some pasta different colors and make jewelry or a picture. (Place pasta, food coloring and ¼ cup alcohol in a bag. Mix, and let it sit, then dump it on tin foil to dry overnight. Write out some Superkids words from your P list on sticky notes and place them on a wall. Have someone quickly call out a word and shoot the word with a Nerf gun. See how quickly you can shoot all your words.
What to do if you don’t have the materials: Don’t panic!!!!! You can still probably pick them up from Jenny, but if not, just adapt the lessons as best you can. Set up your “Online Fun,” for Superkids and your child can practice reading on that. Look at your son/daughter’s report card from the 3rd quarter and work on those skills that are marked, “P for progressing, or B for beginning.” It will be OK!!!
Until Wednesday, may God’s love be with you and yours! Mrs. Renner
Happy TuesdayTunes Day! Check out the tune I’m sending you! Are you ready for day 2?????? I hope so, now let’s see what we are doing today!
- Religion: Start with Mrs. Pendleton’s online school opening on the IC school page if you would like to. Or, the Glory Be would be nice! Chapter 18, Day 2. Jesus was kind, caring and good. Have your child think about a time when someone was kind to them. What did the person do? How did it make him/her feel? Read the bible story on page 161 and discuss it. Have your child draw a picture of himself/herself with Jesus on the page. If you have a prayer space in your home, gather in that space to share the prayer, “Jesus Wants to Help Us.” If you do not have a prayer space in your home, today would be a good day to create one. It could be very simple. Have your student bring a Bible or children’s prayer book, maybe a cross or crucifix, flowers, whatever is appropriate or meaningful to the child and you. The children could also draw or paint a cross, picture of Jesus, to hang up. Display the items on a rug, low table etc., and Voila!!!!! A good place for the family to gather in prayer! Close the lesson with this prayer: “Thank you, Jesus, for wanting to help us. Amen.”
- Reading: Parents, write the words: pat, pet, pit, pot, (Or have your student write them) and have your kinder identify the letter that’s different in each word. Repeat this activity with the words: tap, tip, top and flap, flip, flop. Now, dictate the following 2 sentences, and have your child write them out in his/her best writing. (Remember, when we are writing, we start forming all letters from the top and we leave spaces between words.) 1. The bag rips. 2. The plums drop. Check these sentences and help your child fix anything that needs it. Moving on to workbook page 11. Read and follow the directions at the bottom of the page. If you have not checked out, “Superkids Online Fun,” on your device yet, today would be a good time to do that. Your child knows what to do, let him/her show you. If you did not receive the link to set this up yet, let me know and I will resend it to you!
- Math: Gather your materials: a paper towel roll, can of soup or similar can, tennis ball and basketball, book and sheet of paper. Place the paper towel roll and soup can on the floor (horizontally) and discuss the length of each object. Ex.: Which object is longer? How do you know? Now stand up the can and paper towel roll. Which is taller? How do you know? Finally, have your learner hold one object in each hand. Which object is heavier and which object is lighter? How do you know? Repeat with the other items you have gathered and explain that each object can be measured in more than one way. Follow the teacher directions at the bottom of page 515. Then follow the directions at the bottom of pages 516, 517, and 518. Homework is optional.
