Lesson Plan for Wednesday, April 22nd
Happy Earth Day! I look forward to Zooming with you at 11:30 today!
Religion: Chapter 22, “We Belong to the Church.” Let’s start by praying the, “Our Father” today. Remind your child that we learn about God from the Bible. Read aloud the scripture verse and have your son/daughter study the pictures on page 193 and explain why the people are together. Now look at page 194 and read the, “We Believe” statement aloud. Remind your kinder that the Church is all over the world. Have your child draw something that your family does together in the picture space.
Reading: We get to read the first act of our play today! Have your child practice reading over these words before we begin: Memory words: like of no Decodable words: pick stick grin contest problem
Before reading Act 1, you might want to explain/discuss what a play is and how it is written. It can be fun to assign different family members to different parts and read the play like that. On page 9, your student should identify and write the memory word, “Like” in the spaces. Take some time today to listen to your student read over the K/Qu word list. Your child can also listen to the play on Superkids Online Fun.
Math: Today we are going to discuss telling time to the hour. Go back to Brain POP Jr, and log in using username: springfield_immaculate, password: brainpop. Type in: “Time to the hour” and watch the video. (The website says that some people are having trouble logging in, so if it doesn’t work don’t worry.) Now discuss with your student the concepts of a.m. and p.m. and how we do different activities at different times of the day. If the clock that you made on Tuesday has moving hands, you can ask your child to move the hands to show you different times of the day or night. Discuss your son/daughter’s schedule. Example: We eat breakfast at ____ o’clock, we do our schoolwork at ____ o’clock, etc. Now find the paper that says, “Fill in the missing time” and have your kinder write the times correctly on the lines.
