Lesson Plan for Tuesday, April 21st
Welcome back!!! I hope you enjoyed your extra day off, and thanks for coming back to online school today! We had an extra special guest on our video this morning!!! Yes, it was Mrs. Jones, teaching us all about the life cycle of the frog. Thank you very much, Mrs. Jones! We do not have a paper Scholastic News to look at, but we can go to Scholastic.com/lfo. Our password is: winzoo9. If you would like to make the necklace, that is fantastic, but it is optional.
Reading: Have you child pretend to bow to a queen if the word you say begins with the /kw/ sound as in queen: quit itch quiet under question quarter
Next, have your student use a pencil and paper to write the beginning sounds of the following words: key (k) quick (qu) kick quiz kids quilt quietly kindness quarrel
Now read the directions at the bottom of page 4 and have your kinder complete the page. For pages 5 and 6, you will need to tell your son/daughter the word related to the picture in each box and have him/her circle the correct letters. We will start at the top, and work left to right on page 5: queen princess king cricket Emma quint. Page 6: twin Fred kangaroo dragon Alvin questions. (These pages relate to the story that we will read tomorrow.)
Writing: “The ABC’S of me,” the letter is D. Your child will write: The most DIFFICULT thing I have ever done is_____________________________________. (Two to three sentences if possible.)
Math: Today we will begin our math lesson by watching the Brain POP Jr video titled: “Parts of a Clock.” To do this: 1. Google: “Brain POP Jr” 2. Log in: username: springfield_immaculate, password: brainpop 3. Enter the title, “Parts of a Clock,” into the search and watch the video. Next, we are going to make our own clock. If you have a printer at home you can just click on the box that is titled, “Activity,” (Scissors icon) under the video. You can print out the clock, fill in the numbers, and attach the clock hands with a brad if you have one. (It says to glue the hands down, but then you cannot move them.) If you can’t print out a clock, just make one on a paper plate or other heavy paper. We will save this clock to use again tomorrow.
Just for fun: 1. Make the frog life cycle necklace. 2. Build a boat out of recycled materials and see how much weight it can carry and still float. 3. Build a balloon rocket with string, straws and tape, (Have a parent google how) and have a race. 4. Hummingbirds are hungry! If you have a feeder, make some food for them. Recipe: 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. Stir or heat until the sugar is dissolved. Store the extra food in the fridge.
