Kindergarten Greetings!
My name is Mrs. Cathy Renner, and Pete the Cat and I are so glad to meet you! I am thrilled to have you in my class this year! We will have a great year of fun and learning, and the exciting news is that school begins soon!! I hope that I will get to see you and your family at our ice cream social on Tuesday, August 17th from 4:30 to 6:00. "And suddenly you know: It's time to start something new and trust in the magic of beginnings." - Meister Eckhart See you soon! Love, Mrs. Renner Congratulations, Kindergarten! You are flying to first grade! The talent show video will be posted on the IC home page at around 10:00 this morning. Happy Fri-yay! The Last Lesson
Well, we made it! I don’t think that any of us wanted the year to end in this way……but some things are just out of our hands! I am just sitting here thinking about our time of distance learning. I’m not sure I even know what I think at this point. I always feel a little melancholy at the end of the school year anyway, and something like this has never happened to us before. I know that we have all tried to cope and change and continue to do the best that we can. These things I know to be true:
We will have our last Zoom meeting this morning at 11:00. Hope you can make it! If you can’t we understand! I will not be posting any more lesson plans, but I will continue to email you some information over the next week or so. On Friday, Mrs. Pendleton will be sending out our “Flying away to First grade” video. It will be posted on the IC School homepage and on Facebook at around 10:00 a.m. Report cards will also be sent home sometime next week. We will not be assessing our fourth quarter skills, as we could not meet with each child to do that, so there will be some blanks on the card. Don’t worry about that, and don’t forget to come to school next week to pick up your student’s supplies and memory book. (See Mrs. Pendleton’s email for your pickup time and place.) That is probably enough info for now! I will be in touch, and may God’s love be with you, always! Religion: Give your home teacher or teachers giant hugs. Reading: Complete page 32 and then fill out your certificate on page 33. You are a SUPERKID!!!!!!!! (But we already knew that.) Writing: Finish your L story if need be. (First grade hint: The first grade teachers expect you to do your neatest writing, and form your letters correctly. Practice up this summer if you need to!) Math: Say thank you to every person who helped you learn at home. Just for fun: Go outside and yell at the top of your lungs, “I AM A FIRST GRADER!!!!!!!” Keep reading and reading and reading this summer. Lesson Plan for Wednesday, May 13th
Greetings! Zoom meeting tomorrow, I will send the invitation out this morning. Our special guest will be, MRS. REITH!!!!!! Think of something you enjoyed or remember about kindergarten and be ready to share! It can be something from when we were in school, or something that you did while learning at home. We will not get the, “ABC’s of Me” finished, but I did put the remaining letter prompts in the front pocket of your memory book for you to finish if you would like. We will pass out the memory books, headphones and other belongings next week. (Check the Immaculate Conception homepage to find your designated pick-up time.) There is a Pikachu water bottle in the closet. If it is yours, just let me know! To find out more about oceans: Scholastic/lfo, password: “winzoo9.” Religion: Do a page or alternate activity of your choice. Reading: Please complete workbook pages 28,29, 30 and 31. (Directions at the bottom.) We will finish tomorrow on the very last day! Hip hip hooray!!!!!!! Writing: Letter L: I love to eat_______________ because _______________. You have until Friday to finish this story. Math: Choose a review page that is good for you!! I have been very impressed with the math pages you have chosen this week!!!!! Just for fun: 1. Draw some ocean animals and color them in with crayons. Now paint over the entire picture with blue watercolor paint. It will look really cool, trust me!!! 2. Sing some songs together that make you feel happy….or silly!!!! Lesson Plan for Tuesday, May 12th
Greetings! Please don’t forget to take a picture of your kinder holding his/her certificate. Email it on to Mrs. Pendleton if you have not yet done so. She is making a special video for us that she will share on Friday. Thank you for continuing to help your children finish their assignments each day!!! You are just an exceptional group of human beings, and we have had a kindergarten family to be proud of this year! We are going to have our final Zoom meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. I thought I would just let each student have a chance to share a favorite kindergarten memory, or something that he/she enjoyed this year. I will send an invitation on Wednesday, join us if you can! If you would like to explore more about “Summer Safety,” go to “Scholastic/lfo” and enter the password, “winzoo9.” Religion: Do a page of your choice, or if you have an idea for a service project, prayer time or artistic expression, etc. please feel free to do that instead. Reading: Open the workbook to pages 24 and 25. The pictures show things that happened in the “Superkids’ Club” stories, but the pictures need to be put in the right order. Cut out the pictures on page 25 and set aside the 2 colored strips and the zipper to use later. Now, look at the first picture of the dirty bus. Find the 2 pictures that show the bus, and glue them down in the correct sequence to show how the Superkids cleaned the bus. Do the same thing with the other 2 stories. (First, next and last.) Now make the letter “Z.” First, glue the green strip across the top of a paper to make the top part of the Z. Next, glue the zipper down to make the slanted part of the Z. Lastly, place the pink strip to make the bottom of the Z. Now, your student will read the words left on page 25 to complete the sentences on page 27. Follow the directions at the bottom of page 27. Writing: Finish your “K” story from yesterday, if need be. Math: Choose a review page of your choice. You only need to complete one side. Just for Fun: 1. Make a weather journal. Keep track of the weather for 1 week. Record the temperature each day. Make a prediction of what the weather will be later, and then observe the changes throughout the day. 2. Have a family member read a Bible story to you. What is the message of the story? 3. Call or send a video message to a family member who might need a smile. 4. Learn your phone number or your address. Kindergarten Greetings! Today we begin the last week of our online school. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated your dedication and participation during this unprecedented time! Parents, the way in which you have become your student’s school teacher speaks volumes about how much you love them! What a brilliant example you have set FOR them, by requiring the kinders to keep learning, even when the weeks went on ….and on!!! I am in awe of you! Students, I so appreciate how you have kept working and learning at home, even if there were times that you did not want to!! Bravo!!!!!!!! When you look back at this time, you can be very proud! This week I am going to give you a bit more choice in your assignments. Remember that you have 1 last homework pass that you can use for an assignment of your choice.
Religion: We have 3 chapters left in our packet. Each day this week, you may select 1 page to complete. (Front and back) Some pages will just be reading, some may have drawing, some have booklets to be made. Every day, choose to do a page that is meaningful for you. Reading: Follow the directions at the bottom of pages 17 and 18. For page 19, we will not have the CD to listen to, but your child can still write a plural word that makes sense. Now, read the final story “The Superkids Album” on pages 20 to 23. Writing: Letter K: If I were king of the world I would ______________________. (You have 2 days to complete this story) Math: We have a few review pages left in our packet. Each day this week, choose a page that is a good review for you. (You only have to do 1 side of a page if it is double sided.) Just for fun: 1. Build an indoor or an outdoor obstacle course. 2. Get outside and play with sidewalk chalk. 3. Set up at toy wash. A sink, or bath of water and some toys are all you need. (Add some soap for fun.) 4. Look outside your window and find 5 things God created. Why is each of these things important? I want to wish a very happy Mother's Day to all our precious mothers and grandmothers on Sunday!!! Where would we be without your love? If your child made a talent show video, please send it to: [email protected], and the Kindergarten certificate picture to: [email protected]. Thank you very much! Today we have a May Crowning lesson and a beautiful story about Mary, read by Mrs. Jones. She also has a craft for you to complete if you would like to! Thank you, Mrs. Jones!
